Synergeyes - Hybrid Contact Lenses

Hybrid contact lens are some of the latest and greatest options in contact lens care. A new breed of Hybrid lenses have been introduced by Synergeyes Inc. and are currently being rolled out to contact lens specialists.

The hybrid lens has a rigid gas permeable center that provides crisp clear optics of regular gas permeable lenses. The center is made a 100dk material. In basic terms, this means that it allows a lot of oxygen to reach the cornea as you wear them.

Attached to the gas permeable center is a soft lens skirt. The skirt not only aids in centering the lens, but also provides increased comfort. Finally we have a lens that actually combines the best of both worlds. Crisp, sharp, consistant vision of gas permeable lenses. Along with the comfort of soft contacts.

Who will these lenses benefit? potentially anyone who wants to try them. As of the writing of this article, the synergeyes lenses are available in powers from +20.00 to -20.00 and are clinically capable of correcting up to 6 diopters of corneal cylinder.

The gas permeable portion is available in spherical base curves ranging from 7.10mm to 8.20mm. And the soft skirts are available in 1.0mm and 1.3mm flatter than the center curve.

Synergeyes has announced that more styles; including multifocals, post-surgical, and Keratoconus lenses will be released in the upcoming year. More variation in skirt curves will also be available.

What does all this mean to the average contact lens wearer? There is finally something new! a major breakthrough that can benefit almost any contact lens wearer. If you are a soft lens wearer who suffers from inconsistent vision, blurred vision, or simply want the sharpest acuity available, you may benefit from hybrid lenses.

If you are a gas permeable lens wearer who would like improved comfort and put an end to foreign body attacks, you may benefit from hybrid contact lenses.

No matter what type of correction or what the circumstance, there is a new type of lens that may change the way we all wear contact lenses. So how new is the concept of hybrid contact lenses? Not all that new. The softperm has been around for many years and before that it was the saturn lens. This hybrid lens lacked in one important area, oxygen permeability. The low permeability of the softperm made it good for short term use and severe instances.

Now with the new high oxygen permeable, customizable, and comfortable synergeyes really do open a whole new world in contact lenses.
