Reviews for bifocal contacts
Some reviews for bifocal contacts will try to tell you that brand XYZ is the perfect lens. I am going to debunk that right now. Every eye is different, every type of lens is different, and each individual's bifocal needs are different. If a perfect bifocal contact lens were for everyone was available, everyone would be wearing it.
Fortunately for those that need bifocals, there are many fitting options available. For starters, we have soft or rigid gas permeable multifocals.
The advantage of soft lenses is comfort and convenience. Soft multifocals come in all varieties from 1 day disposables all the way to standard vial lenses that will last 6 months to a year. Any soft lens is limited in the amount of add power that can be put in it without affecting the distance vision. Some work better for high myopic corrections while others do great for hyperopes. Some soft lenses tout a low or high add. Low add usually meaning up to about +1.25 while a high add claims it can potentially create a +2.50 add. How much add each person actually perceives is completely individual and will need to be assessed per case.
Some soft disposable multifocals include,
- Acuvue Bifocal
- Bausch and Lomb Soflens Multifocal
- Definitions Multifocal
- Cooper Proclear Multifocal
- Ciba Focus Progressive
- Ciba Daily Progressive
- C-Vue Multifocal
- and coming soon the Purevision Multifocal
One of these lenses may be perfect for your friend, and terrible for you. That's the thing to remember with contact lenses. Each one is different, as is each eye. So to give a fair review of any contact lens, you must try them for yourself.
The bottom line is that multifocal lenses work. Keep your expectations real and seek out an experienced contact lens fitter. Follow these rules and you are sure to happy with your multifocals.
