All About Contact Lenses

The Most Significant Herpes Symptom.

Herpes is a virus that is responsible for eruptions of sores on the skin. There are many strains of the virus, and each strain causes a similar but different type of outbreak.

The herpes family is dominated by two herpes family strains in the main. The first we will discusss is the HSV 1 strain that affects the mouth both inside and out.

Herpes Transmission

The other dominant member of the herpes family is the herpes simplex 2 virus which is known as as HSV 2. It is this herpes family member that and affects the genitalia as well as the buttocks and lower back. We will be talking about the type of outbreaks this virus causes in greater detail a little further on.

Herpes simplex 1 is the gentlest form of the herpes virus. The blisters are cold sores, or fever blisters, that are found inside or outside the on the outside of the lips. This virus is (transmittable and incurable. The way to pass this virus is by the contact with the lesions. This virus can also cause genital herpes, but it is generally located around the mouth.

The blisters or sores that sometimes appear in and around the mouth when one is getting a cold or flu are typical of HSV 1. This is referred to as oral herpes.

Herpes simplex 2 is the most commonly talked about form of herpes. This strain is passed through some form of sexual intercourse. The lesions that occur from this strain are similar to cold sores; they are blisters on private areas.

To be more specific in males, the eruptions may occur on the shaft of the penis, the genital region, or on the inner thigh, buttocks, or anus. Where as with females, lesions may occur on or near the pubis, labia, clitoris, vulva, buttocks, or anus. This may require careful examination; during delivery a flashlight is suggested. The appearance of eruptions and the experience of outbreaks in these areas vary according to each individual.

So what does genital herpes look like? Sometimes herpes simply appears as reddening of the affected area. You also may fee feverish and even have some flu like aches and pains. A discharge from the penis or vagina also often occurs.

It is common for the first herpes outbreaks to be far more severe and they often are preceded by feelings of fever and glands that are swollen. Succeeding outbreaks are generally never as harsh as that first outbreak and can occur 6 to 8 times a year, depending on your health. If you are suffering from stress this will almost always trigger an outbreak as will a lowered immune system. Depression can extend the length of your herpes outbreaks.
